So i found this picture online and thought these turtles were one of the cutest customs I've seen. I wanted to know who made this picture and found out it was elizabeth barrera. I tried to research her ,but couldn't find anything except her 2-3 year old youtube channel. I assume she doesn't make lps customs anymore. I have finished the basic color painting, green body, eyes, shell, etc, but i need help on the mask! What clay is used to make this mask? When using whatever clay it is, do i first put it on the lps and then sculpt the mask or do i sculpt the mask off of the lps? does it air dry or bake in the oven? the problem i ran into was trying to use air dry clay. I put air dry clay on the turtles head and then cut out the mask. I couldn't put glue underneath the mask because i didn't want pieces staying that i cut off. I let the turtle sit overnight but the mask just crumbled when i touched it. PLEASE HELP! Attachments:

It's most likely polymer clay, since I know that it's used a lot for custom MLPs. You should be okay baking it on the LPS itself since polymer clay bakes at very low temperatures. But be sure to bake after getting all the original paint off and BEFORE painting it yourself!! I don't know how the paint on the LPSs reacts to heat, but I know that acrylic doesn't respond to it well.
I've never customized an LPS before so there may be some important things I'm missing, hope this helped a little bit though!

Elizabeth is actually a member of this forum but she hasn't been on since September. Try messaging her and perhaps she would share some tips with you.

Thank you!! What a compliment! To create the masks "ties" I used ties cut from existing toys and super glued them on. I've made several sets, so I can't remember the source of all of the ties, but I once used the ties from actual TMNT from a Dollar Store. To make the belts, I've used plastic strips or rubber bands. To create the masks, I sculpted directly onto the faces using Aves Apoxie Sculpt or Clay. It's a two-part clay that, when mixed, gives a few hours of sculpting time before it air dries. Hope this helps.
